HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 116

A RESOLUTION
To recognize Wednesday, May 10, 2023, as Arc Appreciation Day at the state capitol and
to commend the twenty-two affiliated local chapters of The Arc of Louisiana for
their dedication to individuals with disabilities and their families over the last sixty-
nine years.
WHEREAS, The Arc of Louisiana is the oldest and largest grassroots advocacy
organization in Louisiana with more than ten thousand members affiliated through twenty-
two local chapters across the state; and
WHEREAS, The Arc of Louisiana is devoted to promoting, improving, and
providing support and services for people with disabilities and their families, and has served
the individuals with the Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities, the Office of
Aging and Adult Services, Louisiana Rehabilitation Services, and Early Steps for nearly
seventy years; and
WHEREAS, The Arc of Louisiana's local chapters provide a variety of services
across the state, including early intervention, inclusive rec, personal care assistance, day
habilitation, supported employment, community homes, and supervised independent living;
and
WHEREAS, The Arc of Louisiana and its local chapters are most deserving of the
highest recognition for their incredible support of intellectually and developmentally
disabled Louisianians and their families.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize Wednesday, May 10, 2023, as Arc
Appreciation Day at the state capitol and commends the twenty-two affiliated local chapters
of The Arc of Louisiana for their dedication to individuals with disabilities and their families
over the last sixty-nine years and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that The Arc of
Louisiana and its local chapters continue to receive the necessary support to sustain their
inspiring mission of service.
