HIGHWAYS: Urges and requests the Department of Transportation and Development to
study and take measures to relieve traffic congestion on Louisiana Highway 16 at
Live Oak High School
1 A RESOLUTION
2To urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to study and to take
3 measures to relieve the traffic congestion on Louisiana Highway 16 at Live Oak
4 High School.
5 WHEREAS, Live Oak High School is a high-performing school in which student
6enrollment is increasing; and
7 WHEREAS, new residents are drawn to the school district because of the strength
8of the school system; and
9 WHEREAS, residential growth in the area of Live Oak High School has increased
10and continues to increase; and
11 WHEREAS, highway congestion near Live Oak High School has been a major,
12ongoing problem for residents and commuters; and
13 WHEREAS, traffic congestion presents a serious threat to public safety due to
14increased risk of accidents to vehicles and pedestrians in the area; and
15 WHEREAS, the two-lane portion of Highway 16 from Highway 1019 to Fore Road
16experiences problematic traffic congestion.
17 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
18Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request the Department of Transportation and
19Development to study and to take measures to relieve the traffic congestion on Louisiana
20Highway 16 at Live Oak High School.

1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation and
2Development create a report summarizing its findings from studying measures to relieve the
3traffic congestion in the vicinity of Live Oak High School.
4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of the report summarizing its findings
5be transmitted to the House of Representatives.
6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the
7Department of Transportation and Development.
