HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 138

A RESOLUTION
To commend Acadia Parish Assessor James J. "Jimbo" Petitjean on being named the 2023
Assessor of the Year at the ninetieth annual assessor's conference.
WHEREAS, James J. "Jimbo" Petitjean has served as the Acadia Parish Assessor
since 2013, gathering accurate assessment data, creating enhanced records, and keeping
parish residents informed; and
WHEREAS, Jimbo possesses a genuine love for his parish and the people he serves;
he stays involved in critical issues concerning taxation and is a tireless advocate for both
Acadia Parish and the Louisiana Assessor's Association; and
WHEREAS, under Jimbo, the Acadia Parish Assessor's office has made vast
improvements to the parish mapping program, making it one of the most accurate and
detailed maps in the country; moreover, all available information on the program is
accessible to the public, free of charge; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Petitjean is a current member of the Louisiana Assessor's
Association's Insurance Committee and he is also a past co-chair of the Louisiana Assessor's
Association's Legislative Committee; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Petitjean was recently recognized as the 2023 Assessor of the Year
by the Louisiana Assessor's Association at their 90th Annual Assessor's Conference held in
Bossier City, Louisiana; he is most deserving of the highest recognition for his incredible
work and dedication to public service.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Acadia Parish Assessor James J. "Jimbo"
Petitjean on being named the 2023 Assessor of the Year at the ninetieth annual assessor's
conference and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that he continue to serve Acadia Parish
with honor and dedication.
