COMMENDATIONS: Commends Dr. Leslie Sisco Wise on her induction as the first
female president of the Louisiana Orthopaedic Association
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Dr. Leslie Sisco Wise on her induction as the first female president of the
3 Louisiana Orthopaedic Association.
4 WHEREAS, Dr. Leslie Sisco Wise was officially inducted as president of the
5Louisiana Orthopaedic Association following the association's annual meeting on
6February 4, 2023, and now holds the distinction of being the first female president of the
7statewide professional organization, which was chartered in 1955; and
8 WHEREAS, Dr. Sisco Wise is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in
9hand surgery; she currently serves as the section head of hand surgery for Ochsner Health
10and director of the Hand and Upper Extremity Center for Ochsner Baptist Hospital in New
11Orleans; and
12 WHEREAS, Dr. Sisco Wise earned a medical degree and completed a five-year
13residency at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans; she then
14completed a one-year fellowship specializing in hand and upper extremities at the University
15of California at San Francisco; and
16 WHEREAS, Dr. Sisco Wise is married to Dr. Whit Wise, and they have three
17children, Alton, Evans, and Eleanor; she is most deserving of the highest recognition for her
18unprecedented accomplishment.
19 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
20Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Dr. Leslie Sisco Wise on her induction as
21the first female president of the Louisiana Orthopaedic Association; does hereby further

1recognize the cultural significance of Dr. Sisco-Wise's groundbreaking achievement; and
2does hereby extend sincerest wishes that she continues to prosper and serve as an inspiration
3to all Louisianians.
