HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 151

A RESOLUTION
To commend Dr. Leslie Sisco Wise on her induction as the first female president of the
Louisiana Orthopaedic Association.
WHEREAS, Dr. Leslie Sisco Wise was officially inducted as president of the
Louisiana Orthopaedic Association following the association's annual meeting on
February 4, 2023, and now holds the distinction of being the first female president of the
statewide professional organization, which was chartered in 1955; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Sisco Wise is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in
hand surgery; she currently serves as the section head of hand surgery for Ochsner Health
and director of the Hand and Upper Extremity Center for Ochsner Baptist Hospital in New
Orleans; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Sisco Wise earned a medical degree and completed a five-year
residency at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans; she then
completed a one-year fellowship specializing in hand and upper extremities at the University
of California at San Francisco; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Sisco Wise is married to Dr. Whit Wise, and they have three
children, Alton, Evans, and Eleanor; she is most deserving of the highest recognition for her
unprecedented accomplishment.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Dr. Leslie Sisco Wise on her induction as
the first female president of the Louisiana Orthopaedic Association; does hereby further
recognize the cultural significance of Dr. Sisco-Wise's groundbreaking achievement; and
does hereby extend sincerest wishes that she continues to prosper and serve as an inspiration
to all Louisianians.
