HLS 23RS-3225 ORIGINAL 2023 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 177 BY REPRESENTATIVE DUBUISSON LAW ENFORCEMENT: Requests Louisiana State Police to increase patrols on Interstate 10 between Slidell and New Orleans 1 A RESOLUTION 2To urge and request the Louisiana State Police to increase patrols on Interstate 10 between 3 Slidell and New Orleans. 4 WHEREAS, the mission statement of the Louisiana State Police is to ensure the 5safety and security of the people in the state through enforcement of the laws of this state 6and by providing other essential public safety services; and 7 WHEREAS, the Louisiana State Police has nine troops stationed throughout the state, 8with Troops L and B sharing jurisdiction over the portion of Interstate 10 that runs between 9the cities of Slidell and New Orleans; and 10 WHEREAS, Slidell and New Orleans are approximately thirty-three miles away from 11each other, with Interstate 10 serving as a popular route to commute between both cities; and 12 WHEREAS, in 2022, approximately twenty-three shootings occurred along Interstate 1310 between Slidell and New Orleans; and 14 WHEREAS, the safety of motorists in Louisiana is of paramount importance, and 15due to the increase in criminal activity along Interstate 10, motorists have great concern 16regarding their safety. 17 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 18Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request the Louisiana State Police to increase 19patrols on Interstate 10 between Slidell and New Orleans in order to ensure the safety of 20motorists in Louisiana.
