COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Honorable Valarie Hodges and expresses enduring
gratitude for her outstanding contributions to the parishes of East Baton Rouge and
Livingston and the state of Louisiana, particularly during her tenure as a
distinguished member of the Louisiana House of Representatives
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Honorable Valarie Hodges and to express enduring gratitude for her
3 outstanding contributions to the parishes of East Baton Rouge and Livingston and
4 the state of Louisiana, particularly during her tenure as a distinguished member of
5 the Louisiana House of Representatives.
6 WHEREAS, Valarie Hodges is a notable public servant who has served with
7excellence for three terms as a state representative since taking office in 2012, during which
8time she has fully used every opportunity to serve the citizens of District No. 64 and the state
9in an honorable and dedicated manner; and
10 WHEREAS, Representative Hodges has been a proud member of the Capital Region
11Legislative Delegation, the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus, the Louisiana
12Republican Legislative Delegation, and the Louisiana Rural Caucus; and

1 WHEREAS, Representative Hodges's diligent committee service has included
2serving as vice chair of the House Committee on Labor and Industrial Relations; she has also
3served as a member of the House Committee on the Administration of Criminal Justice, the
4House Committee on House and Governmental Affairs, the House Committee on Civil Law
5and Procedure, the House Committee on Appropriations, the House Committee on Judiciary,
6the House Committee on Transportation, Highways and Public Works, the House Select
7Committee on Homeland Security, the House Select Committee on Women and Children,
8and the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget; and
9 WHEREAS, during her time in the House of Representatives, Representative Hodges
10has worked on and supported many important pieces of legislation; and
11 WHEREAS, Valarie Hodges will forever have a special place in the chronicles of the
12history of Louisiana, for she is one of Louisiana's most outstanding public servants; and
13 WHEREAS, as she prepares to embark on the next exciting and productive chapter
14of her life, Representative Hodges merits a sincere measure of commendation for her
15singular contributions and the exemplary strides she has taken as an exceptional member of
16the Louisiana House of Representatives.
17 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
18Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Honorable Valarie Hodges; does hereby
19extend honor and recognition to her for her outstanding contributions during her tenure as
20a distinguished member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, which has been marked
21by her uncompromising endeavor to improve the welfare of her constituents in the parishes
22of East Baton Rouge and Livingston and the state of Louisiana; and does hereby pay tribute
23to her for the generous and effective way in which she has dedicated her intelligence and
24energy to the service of her family, friends, community, and state.
25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Louisiana House of Representatives does
26hereby express enduring gratitude to Representative Hodges for her service to the citizens
27of Louisiana, as evidenced by her superlative achievements as a member of this
28distinguished body, and does hereby extend to her the best wishes of all her colleagues for
29continued prosperity and success in her future endeavors.
