COMMENDATIONS: Commends Cynthia Tobey-Babineaux on the occasion of her
retirement
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Cynthia Tobey-Babineaux on the occasion of her retirement.
3 WHEREAS, Cynthia Tobey-Babineaux is a native of New Iberia, Louisiana; she
4attended Jonas Henderson Senior High School and graduated from New Iberia Senior High
5School; after receiving her diploma, she attended Southern University, Edison Junior
6College in Ft. Myers, Florida, and Teche Vocational School in New Iberia; and
7 WHEREAS, Ms. Tobey-Babineaux is a dedicated public servant who has served the
8city of New Iberia for five decades as an employee of the city's Tax Office; she currently
9serves as the city tax collector, and she and her staff work year round with the Iberia Parish
10Assessor's Office to maintain and update tax information on secured and unsecured property
11to insure fairness and accuracy to the citizens of New Iberia; and
12 WHEREAS, Ms. Tobey-Babineaux's office also oversees paving and sewerage
13assessments and tall grass complaints, occupational licenses, and alcohol applications and
14permits; and
15 WHEREAS, Cynthia has been a member of the Knights of Peter Claver, Ladies
16Auxiliary Court 63 in New Iberia for over twenty-five years; she is also a 4th Degree Lady
17of Grace of St. Paul Chapter 4 of Lafayette, a member of the Louisiana Association of Tax
18Administrators, and longtime member of the Sugarland Optimist Club of New Iberia; and
19 WHEREAS, Cynthia has received numerous awards and honors at the local, state,
20and national level, including being named the New Iberia Jaycees Outstanding Citizen of the

1Year; she also served on the boards of the New Iberia Chapter of United Way and the
2Hopkins Street Revitalization Program, among others; and
3 WHEREAS, Cynthia Tobey-Babineaux is most deserving of the highest recognition
4for dedicating fifty years of service to the city of New Iberia and the state of Louisiana.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
6Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Cynthia Tobey-Babineaux on the occasion
7of her retirement and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that she continue to prosper as she
8ventures into retirment.
