ENROLLED 2023 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 280 BY REPRESENTATIVE STAGNI A RESOLUTION To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Tulio R. Murillo and posthumously commends his contributions to the city of Kenner. WHEREAS, it is with immense sadness and profound regret that the House of Representatives has learned of the death of Tulio R. Murillo; and WHEREAS, Tulio was born in New Orleans and resided in Kenner, Louisiana, from 1973 until his passing; he was the co-founder and owner of Classic Insurance, CMC Construction, Gala Music, and the Gala Foundation; and WHEREAS, Mr. Murillo was a successful business development professional with nearly thirty years of in-depth experience in office management, supervision, marketing, promotions, and public relations in traditional and emerging markets; and WHEREAS, Mr. Murillo's passion for the Kenner community was evident in his work, as he dedicated over twenty years to comprehensive civic and community outreach services; he served as president of the Gala Foundation and as a subject matter expert in concerts and festivals in the metro area and the city of Kenner, which is home to Louisiana's fastest-growing Hispanic population; he also served on numerous boards and associations including the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, HISPAC, the Honduran Association Club, UNETE, Professional Insurance Agents of Louisiana, Kenner Business Association, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation, Inc., and The Board of Zoning Adjustments for the City of Kenner; and WHEREAS, Tulio collaborated with Gala Music for Latin international nights at the House of Blues, Latin Salsa Night at the Sheraton, Bachata Latin Night at the Sheraton, and Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 280 ENROLLED Reggae-ton Bash at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner; he also served as the executive producer and founder of the Kenner Hispanic Festival; and WHEREAS, Tulio received numerous awards from civic agencies and local, federal, and state governments including 2020 Kenner Business Association Member of the Year; he held an associate degree in civil construction applied engineering technology from Delgado Community College and recently received a bachelor of arts degree in social science with a minor in marketing from Tulane University; and WHEREAS, Tulio R. Murillo leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Shawn; daughter, Brinn; his parents; and a host of other family members and friends; he will be deeply missed, but the legacy of his contributions to the city of Kenner and Louisiana's Hispanic community will live on forever. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express heartfelt condolences on the death of Tulio R. Murillo and posthumously commends his contributions to the city of Kenner; does hereby further recognize Mr. Murillo's inspiring support and promotion of Louisiana's Hispanic community and culture; and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that his family, friends, and loved ones find comfort in their shared memories of his beautiful life.
