Woodfork on the occasion of her retirement 1 A RESOLUTION 2To commend Master Sergeant Nordyica N. Woodfork on the occasion of her retirement. 3 WHEREAS, United States Air Force Master Sergeant Nordyica N. Woodfork served 4as Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge (NCOIC) of the 307th Medical Squadron 5Laboratory; in this capacity, she managed operations and budgets for the laboratory section; 6and 7 WHEREAS, MSgt. Woodfork was also the functional manager for the Medical 8Laboratory Air Force specialty code; the lab is responsible for the acquisition and processing 9of specimens for the entire 307th Bomb Wing; and 10 WHEREAS, MSgt. Woodfork maintained strict adherence to Clinical Laboratory 11Improvement Amendments/College of American Pathology guidelines, safety, and infection 12control policies; she served a critical role in the integral relationship between the active duty 13and reserve laboratories; and 14 WHEREAS, MSgt. Woodfork also served as the administrative NCOIC for the 15pharmacy, bioenvironmental, and nutritional services sections, and she even volunteered for 16additional duties as the senior advisor for 307 MDS Junior Enlisted and as an awards and 17decorations monitor; she also held positions as the squadron basic life support monitor and 18the NCOIC of the Barksdale Air Force Base Honor Guard team from 2003 to 2009; and 19 WHEREAS, MSgt. Woodfork was born in Shreveport and spent her early years in 20Minden, Louisiana; she graduated from North Caddo High School and earned a bachelor of Page 1 of 2 HLS 23RS-3943 ORIGINAL HR NO. 282 1science degree in biomedical engineering from Louisiana Tech University; she also pledged 2to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority; and 3 WHEREAS, MSgt. Woodfork entered basic military training at Lackland Air Force 4Base in San Antonio, Texas, in 1989; afterwards, she went to Phase I Medical Laboratory 5training at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas, and then Phase II Medical Laboratory training 6at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia; she was a Basic Military Training Honor Graduate, 7Phase I Red Rope, and the top student in both Phase I and Phase II classes; and 8 WHEREAS, MSgt. Woodfork was assigned to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in 9Ohio, where she became a member of the Honor Guard and performed numerous details and 10funeral honors throughout Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, and Northern Kentucky; she then 11returned to Langley on assignment and was recognized as an "Airman of the Quarter" and 12"Senior Airman below-the-zone" winner for early promotion; and 13 WHEREAS, MSgt. Woodfork left the Air Force after four-and-a-half years of active 14duty to return to Louisiana to pursue graduate studies; she attended Tulane University in 15New Orleans and received a master's degree in architecture in 1997 and joined the Air Force 16Reserve; and 17 WHEREAS, MSgt. Nordyica Woodfork dedicated more than three decades to the 18service and protection of our great country, and she is most deserving of the highest 19recognition for her inspiring service. 20 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 21Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Master Sergeant Nordyica N. Woodfork on 22the occasion of her retirement, on September 1, 2022, and does hereby extend sincerest 23wishes that she continue to prosper in all of her endeavors, for she is among Louisiana's most 24cherished daughters.
