ENROLLED 2023 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 282 BY REPRESENTATIVE PHELPS A RESOLUTION To commend Master Sergeant Nordyica N. Woodfork on the occasion of her retirement. WHEREAS, United States Air Force Master Sergeant Nordyica N. Woodfork served as Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge (NCOIC) of the 307th Medical Squadron Laboratory; in this capacity, she managed operations and budgets for the laboratory section; and WHEREAS, MSgt. Woodfork was also the functional manager for the Medical Laboratory Air Force specialty code; the lab is responsible for the acquisition and processing of specimens for the entire 307th Bomb Wing; and WHEREAS, MSgt. Woodfork maintained strict adherence to Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments/College of American Pathology guidelines, safety, and infection control policies; she served a critical role in the integral relationship between the active duty and reserve laboratories; and WHEREAS, MSgt. Woodfork also served as the administrative NCOIC for the pharmacy, bioenvironmental, and nutritional services sections, and she even volunteered for additional duties as the senior advisor for 307 MDS Junior Enlisted and as an awards and decorations monitor; she also held positions as the squadron basic life support monitor and the NCOIC of the Barksdale Air Force Base Honor Guard team from 2003 to 2009; and WHEREAS, MSgt. Woodfork was born in Shreveport and spent her early years in Minden, Louisiana; she graduated from North Caddo High School and earned a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering from Louisiana Tech University; she also pledged to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority; and WHEREAS, MSgt. Woodfork entered basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, in 1989; afterwards, she went to Phase I Medical Laboratory training at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas, and then Phase II Medical Laboratory training at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia; she was a Basic Military Training Honor Graduate, Phase I Red Rope, and the top student in both Phase I and Phase II classes; and Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 282 ENROLLED WHEREAS, MSgt. Woodfork was assigned to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, where she became a member of the Honor Guard and performed numerous details and funeral honors throughout Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, and Northern Kentucky; she then returned to Langley on assignment and was recognized as an "Airman of the Quarter" and "Senior Airman below-the-zone" winner for early promotion; and WHEREAS, MSgt. Woodfork left the Air Force after four-and-a-half years of active duty to return to Louisiana to pursue graduate studies; she attended Tulane University in New Orleans and received a master's degree in architecture in 1997 and joined the Air Force Reserve; and WHEREAS, MSgt. Nordyica Woodfork dedicated more than three decades to the service and protection of our great country, and she is most deserving of the highest recognition for her inspiring service. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Master Sergeant Nordyica N. Woodfork on the occasion of her retirement, on September 1, 2022, and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that she continue to prosper in all of her endeavors, for she is among Louisiana's most cherished daughters.
