COMMENDATIONS: Commends the organizers, volunteers, and royal court of the 2023
Italian Festival in Tickfaw, Louisiana
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the organizers, volunteers, and royal court of the 2023 Italian Festival in
3 Tickfaw, Louisiana.
4 WHEREAS, the Italian Festival is a unique event held each April in Tickfaw,
5Louisiana, that has become a beloved tradition for both locals and visitors alike; and
6 WHEREAS, the original festival was organized many years ago and was known as
7"The Little Italy Festival"; the village of Tickfaw began hosting the Italian Festival in 2009;
8and
9 WHEREAS, citizens of Italian descent make up a significant portion of south
10Louisiana's population, and their communities have had a tremendous impact on Louisiana
11culture, from architectural masonry to foodways to jazz and brass band music; and
12 WHEREAS, the annual Italian Festival in Tickfaw is a family-friendly celebration
13of Italian-American culture and heritage featuring carnival rides, entertainment from local
14bands, a parade, a ball, and a pageant; there is also a spaghetti cook-off where judges select
15winners in the categories of gravy, meatballs, and table decorations; and
16 WHEREAS, Skyla Stanley, a young woman of many gifts and talents, reigns as the
172023 Italian Festival Queen with great distinction and dedication; Mrs. Marietta Coslan
18reigns as the Spaghetti Queen, Representative Nicholas Muscarello, Jr., reigns as Grand
19Marshal, and Mr. Frank Sinagra, Jr., reigns as King; and
20 WHEREAS, the 2023 Italian Festival royal court also includes Teen Queen, Paris
21Marques; Junior Queen, Alexis Pitts; Deb Queen, Kaelynn Coslan; Little Queen, Amelia

1Puma; Petite Queen, Karley Cavalier; T'Nincy Queen, Brinkleigh McKee; Tiny Queen,
2Adalyn Roberts; Toddler Queen, Brighton Sticker; and Princess, Hannah Vicaro; and
3 WHEREAS, the organizers, volunteers, and royal court of the 2023 Italian Festival
4in Tickfaw merit a sincere and heartfelt measure of commendation for the tremendous pride
5and honor that this wonderful annual event brings to the citizens of Louisiana.
6 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
7Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the organizers, volunteers, and royal court
8of the 2023 Italian Festival in Tickfaw, Louisiana, and does hereby recognize this
9extraordinary event as an integral part of the celebration of Italian-American culture and
10history in the state of Louisiana.
