COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Louisiana Nursery and Landscape Association for
its "Plants Make a Difference" campaign

2To commend the Louisiana Nursery and Landscape Association for its "Plants Make a
3 Difference" campaign.
4 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Nursery and Landscape Association's "Plants Make a
5Difference" campaign is aimed at educating Louisianians about the many vitally important
6benefits of having more plants in our lives; and
7 WHEREAS, plants provide a number of benefits to people; studies suggest that
8individuals who play or spend time in a natural environment more frequently experience
9lower levels of stress, higher concentration, greater fitness, improved reasoning, and sharper
10observational skills; and
11 WHEREAS, plants are also incredibly effective in helping to conserve energy;
12homeowners can save up to 25% of their energy costs by simply investing in effective
13landscaping with plants and trees; landscaping also yields an average of 110% returns on
14every dollar invested, and properties that are well-landscaped typically sell faster; and
15 WHEREAS, plants also provide an economic benefit to businesses as beautification
16projects using trees, plants, and flowers to draw more customers, reduce shopper and
17employee stress, and enhance a store's appeal; businesses with more plants and higher
18quality landscaping invite customers to shop longer than they would at a less aesthetically
19pleasing business; and
20 WHEREAS, most importantly, plants and trees remove carbon from our atmosphere,
21give us oxygen to breathe, and filter the water we drink; and

1 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Nursery and Landscape Association is most deserving of
2recognition for its "Plants Make a Difference" campaign.
3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
4Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Louisiana Nursery and Landscape
5Association for its "Plants Make a Difference" campaign and does hereby extend sincerest
6wishes that all Louisianians recognize the integral role that plants play in our lives and
7continue to support and maintain our beautiful state's natural environment.
