COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Grambling State University Tiger Pride Cheer Team
on winning the 2023 Co-Ed Cheer National Championship in Orlando, Florida

2To commend the Grambling State University Tiger Pride Cheer Team on winning the 2023
3 Co-Ed Cheer National Championship in Orlando, Florida.
4 WHEREAS, the Tiger Pride Cheer Team of Grambling State University made history
5by becoming the first team from a Historically Black College and University to win the Co-
6Ed Cheer National Championship at the College Classic National Competition in Orlando;
7and
8 WHEREAS, the Tiger Pride Cheer Team competed in a two-day competition against
9five other co-ed cheer teams from other universities around the country; the team secured
10its highest scores in partner stunt technique, difficulty in pyramid, running tumbling, tosses,
11and overall execution, choreography, creativity, and showmanship; and
12 WHEREAS, Grambling State University cheerleader Skylar Ross was also presented
13with the Tumble Rumble Champion award; she outperformed six other competitors in an
14individual tumbling competition where athletes were judged on the difficulty of their
15standing tumbling and running tumbling skills; and
16 WHEREAS, the Grambling State University Tiger Pride Cheer Team is most
17deserving of the highest recognition for their incredible and historic accomplishments.
18 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
19Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Grambling State University Tiger Pride
20Cheer Team on winning the 2023 Co-Ed Cheer National Championship in Orlando, Florida;
21does hereby further recognize the historical significance of the Tiger Pride Cheer Team

1becoming the first cheer team from an HBCU to win the Co-Ed Cheer National
2Championship; and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that they continue their incredible
3work and always strive for greatness.
