HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 42
BY REPRESENTATIVE COUSSAN
COMMENDATIONS:  Commends the Louisiana State University Center for Energy
Studies for forty years of service
1	A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Louisiana State University Center for Energy Studies (CES) for forty years
3 of service.
4 WHEREAS, CES was created by the Louisiana Legislature during the 1982 Regular
5Session of the Legislature; and
6 WHEREAS, in September of 1982, CES began operations on the Louisiana State
7University's Baton Rouge campus; and
8 WHEREAS, CES has for forty years fulfilled its mission of providing energy
9information and analysis that responds to the needs of the legislature, public agencies, and
10business and civic groups; and
11 WHEREAS, CES has produced more than seven hundred publications; and
12 WHEREAS, since 2015 CES faculty have been quoted or interviewed in the news
13media more than four hundred times, including in The Wall Street Journal, The New York
14Times, USA Today, The Washington Post, among many others; and
15 WHEREAS, CES has housed since its inception an Energy Information Center that
16includes an energy library that is a member of the Louisiana Library Network, the Dalton
17J. Woods Auditorium, and conference facility, where it has hosted more than one hundred
18fifty events since 2003 related to energy research and education.
19 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
20Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request that CES continue its important work

1of providing independent energy information and analysis that responds to the needs of the
2legislature, public agencies, and business and civic groups.
3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Louisiana State University continues to
4recognize and support CES's services to the state of Louisiana as an independent research
5unit that harnesses the diverse resources of the university.
6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
7executive director of the Louisiana State University CES, the president of Louisiana State
8University, and the members of the Louisiana State University board of supervisors.
