Poirrier 1 A RESOLUTION 2To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Sergeant 3 David J. Poirrier. 4 WHEREAS, it is with immense sadness and profound regret that the House of 5Representatives has learned of the tragic and untimely passing, on March 26, 2023, of 6Sergeant David J. Poirrier of the Baton Rouge Police Department; and 7 WHEREAS, Sergeant Poirrier was a seventeen-year veteran of the BRPD who was 8a licensed helicopter pilot and trained tactical flight officer; he was assigned to the BRPD 9Air Support Unit as a Robinson R-44 helicopter pilot at the time of his passing; and 10 WHEREAS, Sergeant Poirrier was a truly selfless, hardworking, and dedicated public 11servant; he is also remembered by his close friends and family as an extremely kind and 12honest man with a passion for aviation; and 13 WHEREAS, Sergeant David J. Poirrier sacrificed his life protecting his community; 14he was preceded in death by his mother, Deborah, and he leaves to cherish his memory his 15daughter, Jaci; brothers, Daniel and Derek; and his father, David; he will be deeply missed, 16but his legacy will live on forever in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved him. Poirrier; does hereby recognize Sergeant Poirrier's unrelenting dedication to the 4protection of his community; and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that his family, 5friends, colleagues, and loved ones find comfort in their shared memories of his life.
