BLANC, STAGNI, STEFANSKI, VILLIO, WHEAT, WHITE, AND WILLARD A RESOLUTION To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Sergeant David J. Poirrier. WHEREAS, it is with immense sadness and profound regret that the House of Representatives has learned of the tragic and untimely passing, on March 26, 2023, of Sergeant David J. Poirrier of the Baton Rouge Police Department; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Poirrier was a seventeen-year veteran of the BRPD who was a licensed helicopter pilot and trained tactical flight officer; he was assigned to the BRPD Air Support Unit as a Robinson R-44 helicopter pilot at the time of his passing; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Poirrier was a truly selfless, hardworking, and dedicated public servant; he is also remembered by his close friends and family as an extremely kind and honest man with a passion for aviation; and WHEREAS, Sergeant David J. Poirrier sacrificed his life protecting his community; he was preceded in death by his mother, Deborah, and he leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Jaci; brothers, Daniel and Derek; and his father, David; he will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on forever in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved him. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express heartfelt condolences on the death of Sergeant David J. Poirrier; does hereby recognize Sergeant Poirrier's unrelenting dedication to the protection of his community; and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that his family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones find comfort in their shared memories of his life.
