HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 52

A RESOLUTION
To commend Wilbert Jones for dedicating fifty years as a member of the J.B. Cade Chapter
of the Association of the United States Army.
WHEREAS, Wilbert Jones is a native of Oakdale, Louisiana; he enrolled at Southern
University in 1962 and pledged the J.B. Cade Chapter of the Association of the United States
Army (AUSA) in 1963; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Jones was drafted to serve in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam
War, and he served with honor from 1970 until 1972; he has graciously offered his
experience and wisdom to support many AUSA pledges throughout the years, making him
the gold standard for veteran mentors; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Jones returned to Southern University as an employee and has
worked faithfully to support the success of his alma mater; he has also served for decades
as a volunteer at the university's athletic events; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Jones was previously honored by Southern University for providing
services for more than fifty years; he currently serves as the university's assistant director
of purchasing for contracts and special projects; and
WHEREAS, Wilbert Jones is a truly admirable individual who is most deserving of
the highest recognition for his inspiring commitment to supporting his fellow veterans as an
AUSA veteran mentor.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Wilbert Jones for dedicating fifty years as
a member of the J.B. Cade Chapter of the Association of the United States Army; does
hereby further recognize and express sincere appreciation to Mr. Jones for his service during
the Vietnam War and for his service to Southern University; and does hereby extend
sincerest wishes that he continue to prosper as he provides inspiring support to our American
military heroes.
