COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Hathaway High School Lady Hornets basketball
team on winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2023 Division V
state championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Hathaway High School Lady Hornets basketball team on winning the
3 Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2023 Division V state championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Hathaway High School Lady Hornets claimed the 2023 Division V
5state title by defeating the Fairview High School Lady Panthers, 64-54, in the championship
6game; the victory gives the program its first state championship in more than fifty years,
7with the last title coming in 1970; and
8 WHEREAS, Lady Hornets Head Coach Courtnee Hollins merits particular
9recognition for her leadership in preparing the team to execute in the season's most important
10game; and
11 WHEREAS, the Hathaway High players performed exceptionally across the board;
12Alli Crader, who finished with fourteen points and eleven rebounds, and Madison Suire, who
13tallied twelve points and ten rebounds, led the team with double-doubles; Chaylee Beard and
14Sienna Guidry added eleven points each, and Keely Francis and Lamiyah Sanchez
15contributed eight points each; and
16 WHEREAS, the Lady Hornets have shown incredible resilience over the last decade,
17having lost to the Fairview Lady Panthers in the state championship in 2021, 2020, and
182010; they are most deserving of the highest recognition for persevering and reaching their
19ultimate goal this year.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Hathaway High School Lady Hornets
3basketball team on winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2023 Division
4V state championship and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that the team's coaches,
5players, and training staff continue their excellent work and always strive for greatness.
