COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Lutcher High School girls' powerlifting team on
winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2023 Division II state
championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Lutcher High School girls' powerlifting team on winning the Louisiana
3 High School Athletic Association 2023 Division II state championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Lutcher High School girls' powerlifting team claimed the 2023
5Division II state title during the 2023 Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA)
6state powerlifting championships at the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana; and
7 WHEREAS, with this victory, the Lutcher High School girls' powerlifting team now
8holds claim to sixteen consecutive state titles; the Lutcher girls' powerlifting program has
9dominated competitive powerlifting in the state for seven years longer than the sport has
10been recognized by LHSAA; and
11 WHEREAS, Lutcher finished their title run with eight girls taking home individual
12championships; among those champions were Blair Ursin, Jayla Johnson, and Daige Love;
13the team also scored sixty-eight total points and won all but three of the division's weight
14classes; and
15 WHEREAS, the Lutcher High School girls' powerlifting team is most deserving of
16the highest recognition for its continued dominance over the past sixteen years.
17 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
18Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Lutcher High School girls' powerlifting
19team on winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2023 Division II state

1championship and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that the team continue its astounding
2work and always strive for greatness.
