HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 72

CONDOLENCES:  Expresses condolences on the death of Darrell Steve Guillory
1	A RESOLUTION
2To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Darrell Steve
3 Guillory.
4 WHEREAS, it is with immense sadness and profound regret that the House of
5Representatives has learned of the tragic passing, on November 20, 2022, of Darrell Steve
6Guillory; and
7 WHEREAS, Darrell Steve Guillory was born on January 2, 1956, and was a native
8of Port Barre, Louisiana; he was also a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and a
9dedicated public servant; and
10 WHEREAS, Darrell first worked as a paramedic with Acadian Ambulance in Breaux
11Bridge, Louisiana, before taking a position as an officer with the Baton Rouge Police
12Department (BRPD); he went on to serve as a BRPD officer for thirty years, working search
13and rescue with his K-9 officer, Elka; and
14 WHEREAS, after retiring from the BRPD, Darrell served several local law
15enforcement agencies including the Brusly Police Department, Carencro Police Department,
16and the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office, where he served on the search and dive teams; and
17 WHEREAS, Darrell eventually returned to Port Barre to serve the local police
18department with his K-9 partner, Jada; he finished his career in law enforcement as an officer
19in the Youngsville Police Department; and

1 WHEREAS, after fully retiring from law enforcement, Darrell joined the Louisiana
2Department of Transportation and Development as a Motorist Assistant Patrol supervisor
3assisting motorists along Interstate 10 in Baton Rouge and along the Atchafalaya Basin; and
4 WHEREAS, Darrell Steve Guillory leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Denise
5Dugas Guillory; son, Daniel Guillory; daughter, Ariana Guillory; stepdaughter, Shirine
6Teague, and her husband Hayes; brothers, Danny Guillory and Clyde Guillory; sister, Judy
7Perry, and her husband Keith; uncle, Raoul Guillory, Jr.; and aunts, Viola Meche, and her
8husband Ronnie, Patsy Guidroz, and Adele Carruthers; he will be deeply missed but
9certainly never forgotten.
10 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
11Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express heartfelt condolences on the death of Darrell
12Steve Guillory and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that his family, friends, and loved
13ones find comfort in their shared memories of his life.
