HLS 23RS-1482 ORIGINAL 2023 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 73 BY REPRESENTATIVE PIERRE LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS: Welcomes the president of the National Assembly of Côte d'lvoire, Adama Bictogo, and his delegation to Louisiana 1 A RESOLUTION 2To welcome the president of the National Assembly of Côte d'Ivoire, Adama Bictogo, and 3 his delegation to Louisiana. 4 WHEREAS, the first National Assembly of Côte d'Ivoire was held in 1960 and 5consisted of seventy elected members, in accordance with the constitution that created the 6first Republic of Côte d'Ivoire; and 7 WHEREAS, the National Assembly of Côte d'Ivoire served as the Ivory Coast's 8unicameral legislative body from 1960 until 2016 and has served as the lower house of the 9Parliament of the Ivory Coast since November 2016; today, the National Assembly is made 10up of two hundred fifty-five members; and 11 WHEREAS, His Excellency Adama Bictogo was elected President of the National 12Assembly on June 7, 2022, after receiving a record 97% of the total votes. 13 WHEREAS, the National Assembly of Côte d'Ivoire and His Excellency Adama 14Bictogo are most deserving of the highest recognition on the occasion of the president's visit 15to the Louisiana state capitol. 16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 17Legislature of Louisiana does hereby welcome the president of the National Assembly of 18Côte d'Ivoire, Adama Bictogo, and his delegation to Louisiana and does hereby extend 19sincerest wishes that the Ivory Coast and its citizens continue to prosper and that they 20remember that they are always welcome in the state of Louisiana.
