COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Zwolle High School boys' basketball team on
winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2023 Division V state
championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Zwolle High School boys' basketball team on winning the Louisiana High
3 School Athletic Association 2023 Division V state championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Zwolle High School Hawks claimed the 2023 Division V state title
5by defeating the Anacoco High School Indians, 40-25, in the championship game at Burton
6Coliseum in Lake Charles, Louisiana; and
7 WHEREAS, although the victory marks the Hawks' first state title since 2017, it also
8gives the program a share of the state-record sixteen Louisiana High School Athletic
9Association (LHSAA) state titles; and
10 WHEREAS, Head Coach Bradley McLaren has led the Zwolle High School
11basketball program to twelve of its sixteen LHSAA state titles; this season, his team added
12to that winning pedigree by not only another state title, but also an imposing record of thirty-
13three wins and only two losses; and
14 WHEREAS, Zwolle High School senior Kenneth Montgomery was voted Most
15Outstanding Player of the Division V championship after he finished with fourteen points
16and eleven rebounds; the Hawks' Preston Sanders also added thirteen points and ten
17rebounds; and
18 WHEREAS, Zwolle High School is most deserving of the highest recognition for its
19decades-long dominance of boys' basketball.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Zwolle High School boys' basketball
3team on winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2023 Division V state
4championship and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that the team's coaches, players, and
5training staff continue their incredible work and always strive for greatness.
