COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Port Allen High School girls' powerlifting team on
winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2023 Division III state
championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Port Allen High School girls' powerlifting team on winning the Louisiana
3 High School Athletic Association 2023 Division III state championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Port Allen High School girls' powerlifting team won the 2023
5Division III state title, giving the Pelicans their fifth straight state championship in girls'
6powerlifting and the tenth state championship for the program over the last thirteen years;
7and
8 WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence,
9and each team member deserves recognition for her vital contributions throughout the
10season; and
11 WHEREAS, the team's outstanding season upholds the glorious tradition of the
12Pelicans, and all Port Allen High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and
13distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community, and state; and
14 WHEREAS, the 2023 Port Allen High School girls' powerlifting team includes Ciera
15Brown, Lyric Christopher, Ta'Janae Christopher, Abigail Espinoza, Trinity Harrison, Alyric
16James, Christiauna Joseph, Jaylynn Netter, Isabella Newchurch, Lily Patterson, Corinne
17Perdue, Na'Kyiah Polk, Michaelin Robertson, Keren Santos, Kierra Talley, Allie Thompson,
18Sydney Warren, and Jermiyia Wilson; and

1 WHEREAS, these young women, along with Head Coach Brian Bizette and assistant
2coaches Reed Bueche, Chris Conaway, Randy Pourciau, Lakeisha Wheeler, and Brittny
3Wilson, are all deserving of the highest recognition for their incredible accomplishments.
4 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
5Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Port Allen High School girls' power
6lifting team on winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2023 Division III
7state championship and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that all of the team's members
8continue their incredible work and always strive for greatness.
