Present law provides that for anyone taking menhaden legally, the catch may have up to five percent
by weight of other species of fish.
Proposed law changes "anyone" to "any person".
Present law requires that, beginning February 10, 2024, the Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries must
provide an annual menhaden harvest report for the prior year to the Senate Committee on Natural
Resources and the House Committee on Natural Resources and Environment.
Proposed law changes the annual report start date from February 10, 2024, to February 1, 2024.
Effective August 1, 2023.
