1 AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 22:1274, relative to property insurance; to provide that a property insurance
3 policy not contain a provision that prohibits an insured the right to hire a public
4 adjuster; to provide for exemptions; and to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 22:1274 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
7 ยง1274. Prohibited policy provision
8 A. An insurer shall not include a provision in any policy of property
9 insurance that prohibits an insured from hiring a public adjuster for services
10 provided pursuant to the provisions of this Title.
11 B. Subsection A of this Section does not apply to commercial insurance
12 policies written by any surplus lines insurer as defined in R.S. 22:46.
