1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 18:1505.2(T), relative to campaign contributions; to provide for
3 repayment of personal contributions or loans; and to provide for related matters.
4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
5 Section 1. R.S. 18:1505.2(T) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
6 ยง1505.2. Contributions; expenditures; certain prohibitions and limitations

8 T.(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsections H and I of this Section,
9 any loans Loans a candidate makes to his own campaign, as provided for in this
10 Section, may be repaid from any campaign funds contributions received in
11 connection with an a election in which the candidate qualified for a public office.
12 (2) The provisions of this Subsection shall apply only to those candidates
13 who have terminated their public service as an elected official for at least one year
14 from the date of their last day in office.

Present law provides that any loans made by a candidate to his own campaign may be repaid
from campaign funds received in connection with an election in which the candidate
qualified for a public office.
Proposed law provides that any loans made by a candidate to his own campaign may be
repaid from any campaign contributions received.
Effective August 1, 2023.
