1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 18:1505.2(T), relative to campaign contributions; to provide for
3 repayment of personal contributions or loans; and to provide for related matters.
4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
5 Section 1. R.S. 18:1505.2(T) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 
6 ยง1505.2. Contributions; expenditures; certain prohibitions and limitations

8	T.(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsections H and I of this Section,
9 any loans Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, loans a candidate
10 makes to his own campaign, as provided for in this Section, may be repaid from any
11 campaign funds contributions received in connection with an a election in which the
12 candidate qualified for a public office.
13	(2) The provisions of this Subsection shall apply only to those candidates
14 who have terminated their public service as an elected official for at least one year
15 from the date of their last day in office.

Present law provides that any loans made by a candidate to his own campaign may be repaid
from campaign funds received in connection with an election in which the candidate
qualified for a public office.
Proposed law provides that notwithstanding any other provision of law any loans made by
a candidate to his own campaign may be repaid from any campaign contributions received.
Effective August 1, 2023.

1. Remove the requirement that campaign contributions used by a candidate to
repay a loan to his own campaign be received in connection with a
subsequent election.
