(gov sig) 1 AN ACT 2 To enact R.S. 17:3704, relative to public postsecondary education institutions; to prohibit 3 certain partnership agreements with gaming entities; to provide for an exception; and 4 to provide for related matters. 5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 6 Section 1. R.S. 17:3704 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7 ยง3704. Public postsecondary education institutions; prohibited partnerships; 8 exception 9 A. No public postsecondary education institution shall enter into any 10 partnerships that promote, market or advertise sports wagering activity with 11 any entity licensed by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, the Louisiana State 12 Racing Commission, or the office of charitable gaming, other than alumni 13 networks with content solely focused on responsible gaming initiatives or 14 problem gambling awareness. 15 B. The provisions of this Section shall not be construed to cause 16 impairment of any existing obligation, contract, or partnership in effect prior 17 to the effective date of this Act. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not 2 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature 3 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If 4 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become 5 effective on the day following such approval. Gaming Control Board, the La. State Racing Commission, or the office of charitable gaming, other than alumni networks with content solely focused on responsible gaming initiatives or problem gambling awareness. Proposed law requires that the provisions in proposed law not be construed to cause impairment of any existing obligation, contract, or partnership in effect prior to proposed law becoming effective.
