SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 16

COMMENDATIONS. Commends the Bossier High School Bearkats on winning their
fourth LHSAA state title.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend the Bossier High School Bearkats on winning their fourth LHSAA state title.
3 WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the Legislature of Louisiana has learned that
4 on Friday, March 10, 2023, the Bossier High School Bearkats boys basketball team won the
5 Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) Division II Non-Select Boys
6 Basketball State Championship; and
7 WHEREAS, the Bearkats hoisted their fourth state championship boys basketball
8 trophy in a little over a decade with a 40–33 point victory over cross-state rival Carroll High
9 School; and
10 WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence,
11 and each Bearkat deserves recognition for his vital contributions throughout the season; and
12 WHEREAS, this team of first-class athletes includes Tonio Ambler-Barr, Billy
13 Broom III, Khalil Brown, Ke'shawn Daniels, Kameron Davenport, Jordan Floyd, Mateo
14 Guerrero, Ja'Karvis Guice, Javon Johnson, Keyshun Johnson, Tahj Roots, Xavier Sessions,
15 Javonte Small, Lakavin Thomas, Landarious Watson, and Kerel Woods; and
16 WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved
17 without the guidance and skills of Head Coach Justin Collins and assistant coaches Marlin
18 Anderson, Jarory Morris, and Kaalas Roots; and

1 WHEREAS, the team's outstanding season upholds the glorious tradition of the
2 Bearkats, and all Bossier High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and
3 distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community, and state; and
4 WHEREAS, the members of the Legislature of Louisiana wish to recognize each of
5 these extraordinary young men and their coaches on their much-deserved championship title
6 earned through teamwork, determination, and dedication to the sport and each other.
7 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
8 commend and congratulate the players and coaches of the Bossier High School Bearkats
9 boys basketball team on an impressive and memorable season and on capturing the Division
10 II Non-Select Boys Basketball State Championship.
11 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
12 Bossier High School head basketball coach Justin Collins.
