SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 57

COMMENDATIONS. Commends the Byrd High School boys' golf team on winning the
Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2023 Division I State Championship.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend the Byrd High School boys' golf team on winning the Louisiana High School
3 Athletic Association 2023 Division I State Championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Byrd High School boys' golf team won the Louisiana High School
5 Athletic Association Division I State Championship with a team score of seventeen over par
6 for five hundred and ninety-three; and
7 WHEREAS, the team was comprised of James Holtsclaw, Shep Smith, Grant
8 Reagan, Ethan Dial, and Duke Bowen; and
9 WHEREAS, Ethan Dial, Grant Reagan, and Duke Bowen all finished in the top ten
10 of individual scorers; and
11 WHEREAS, the Byrd High School boys' golf team has won the state championship
12 six times in the past eight years: 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023, showcasing
13 their consistent excellence; and
14 WHEREAS, Head Coach Meredith Duncan and Assistant Coach CJ Hyslop have
15 played instrumental roles in guiding and supporting the team throughout their journey; and
16 WHEREAS, the Byrd High School boys' golf program upheld the proud traditions
17 of golf during the 2023 season and Byrd High School alumni and fans recognize the
18 immense pride and distinguished honor the state championship title brings to the school,

1 community, and state.
2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
3 commend the Byrd High School boys' golf team for its outstanding performance and
4 congratulate them on their well-deserved victory.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
6 Byrd High School boys' golf team.
