SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 57

A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend the Byrd High School boys' golf team on winning the Louisiana High School
Athletic Association 2023 Division I State Championship.
WHEREAS, the Byrd High School boys' golf team won the Louisiana High School
Athletic Association Division I State Championship with a team score of seventeen over par
for five hundred and ninety-three; and
WHEREAS, the team was comprised of James Holtsclaw, Shep Smith, Grant
Reagan, Ethan Dial, and Duke Bowen; and
WHEREAS, Ethan Dial, Grant Reagan, and Duke Bowen all finished in the top ten
of individual scorers; and
WHEREAS, the Byrd High School boys' golf team has won the state championship
seven times in the past nine years: 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023,
showcasing their consistent excellence; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Meredith Duncan and Assistant Coach CJ Hyslop have
played instrumental roles in guiding and supporting the team throughout their journey; and
WHEREAS, the Byrd High School boys' golf program upheld the proud traditions
of golf during the 2023 season and Byrd High School alumni and fans recognize the
immense pride and distinguished honor the state championship title brings to the school,
community, and state.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the Byrd High School boys' golf team for its outstanding performance and
congratulate them on their well-deserved victory.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
Byrd High School boys' golf team.
