SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 101
BY SENATOR BOUDREAUX 
HEALTH CARE.  Urges and requests the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to
include monoclonal antibodies for RSV within the federal Vaccines for Children program.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To urge and request the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to include monoclonal
3 antibodies for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) within the federal Vaccines for
4 Children program.
5 WHEREAS, RSV is a highly transmissible, seasonal virus which may have severe
6 and unpredictable outcomes for infants, including hospitalization; and
7 WHEREAS, nearly all children will be infected with RSV by the age of two, and
8 most infants requiring hospitalization were previously healthy and born at term; and
9 WHEREAS, RSV is the leading cause of hospitalization among infants in the United
10 States; and
11 WHEREAS, RSV is the most common cause of bronchiolitis (inflammation of the
12 small airways in the lungs) and pneumonia (infection of the lungs) in children younger than
13 one year of age in the United States; and
14 WHEREAS, the most recent RSV season has resulted in significant morbidity and
15 increased mortality; and
16 WHEREAS, RSV disproportionally affects infants with Medicaid coverage and
17 Native Americans; and
18 WHEREAS, the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program is a federally funded program

1 that provides vaccines at no cost to children who might not otherwise be vaccinated because
2 of an inability to pay; and
3 WHEREAS, VFC coverage is critical to ensure equity and ensure high uptake to
4 have the greatest impact on disease burden.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
6 does hereby urge and request the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to include
7 monoclonal antibodies for RSV within the federal Vaccines for Children program.
