2023 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 114 BY SENATORS ABRAHAM AND STINE A RESOLUTION To commend and congratulate the Lake Charles Barbe High School 2023 tennis teams on being undefeated in district play. WHEREAS, 2023 was a record setting year for the Lake Charles Barbe High School girls' and boys' tennis teams; and WHEREAS, both teams were undefeated in district play with 6-0 records; and WHEREAS, the Girls All District Singles Championship was won by Natalie Pumpelly and Girls All District Doubles Championship was won by the team of Genesis Standing and April Wang, and the Boys All District Singles Championship was won by Steven Rice; and WHEREAS, thirteen players were named All-District Players, including Kensi Daley, MacKenzie Geier, Meredith Karam, Claire McMorris, Natalie Pumpelly, Genesis Standing, and April Wang from the girls' team and Ethan Eisen, Aidan Fontenot, Grayson Link, Steven Rice, Gray Standing, and Kevin Zhang from the boys' team; and WHEREAS, District Most Valuable Player Awards went to Natalie Pumpelly for the second time and Genesis Standing and April Wang from the girls team and Steven Rice for the third time from the boys' team; and WHEREAS, at the regional competition, Steven Rice defended his regional singles title and both the girls' and boys' teams placed second with ten players qualifying for state competition; and WHEREAS, at the state competition, Steven Rice won the State Singles Title, a first in Barbe's tennis programs' history, and the boys' team placed third overall in their division; and WHEREAS, the Barbe Buccaneer tennis teams are lead by Coach Jill Rice and their accomplishments are a source of pride and inspiration to their fellow students, the community, and the state. Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 114 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate the Barbe High School 2023 tennis teams on being undefeated in district play.
