SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 115

COMMENDATIONS. Commends and congratulates Barbe High School girls golf team on
defending its title at the LHSAA 2023 Division I State Girls Golf Championship.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend and congratulate Lake Charles' Barbe High School girls golf team on
3 defending its title at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) 2023
4 Division I State Girls Golf Championship.
5 WHEREAS, winning the state championship was the culmination of another
6 unforgettable season; and
7 WHEREAS, the Barbe High School girls golf team set a high school record of 32-0
8 in all matches; and
9 WHEREAS, the Barbe High School girls golf team continued its dominating play
10 at Les Vieux Chenes Golf Course in Lafayette, Louisiana, to win the title as the LHSAA
11 Division I Girls State Golf Team Champion for the third year in a row; and
12 WHEREAS, the Lady Bucs finished with a two-day team score of three hundred
13 fifteen, forty-four strokes ahead of the runner-up team from Sacred Heart of New Orleans;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, the team is comprised of seniors Isabella Bradley and Isabella Callaba
16 and freshman Mattie Purgahn; and
17 WHEREAS, Ms. Callaba finished third individually with a two-day total of one
18 hundred fifty-six strokes; Ms. Purgahn finished fourth individually with a two-day total of

1 one hundred sixty strokes; and Ms. Bradley finished seventh individually with a two-day
2 total of one hundred sixty-five strokes; and
3 WHEREAS, this amazing accomplishment was made possible by many hours of
4 practice and dedication from the players and the enthusiasm and support of Barbe Head
5 Coach Bob Corley and Assistant Coach Sid Bradley; and
6 WHEREAS, the Barbe High School girls golf program upheld the proud traditions
7 of golf during the 2023 season and Barbe High School alumni and fans recognize the
8 immense pride and distinguished honor the state championship title brings to the school,
9 community, and state.
10 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
11 does hereby commend and congratulate Barbe High School girls golf team on defending its
12 title at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2023 Division I State Girls Golf
13 Championship.
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
15 Principal Patrick Fontenot of Barbe High School.
