SLS 23RS-2603 ORIGINAL 2023 Regular Session SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 171 BY SENATOR SMITH CONDOLENCES. Expresses condolences on the passing of Carolyn Cambre Alleman. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of 3 Louisiana upon the passing of Carolyn Cambre Alleman. 4 WHEREAS, it is with great regret that the citizens of Louisiana have learned of the 5 passing of Carolyn Cambre Alleman at the age of ninety-six, on May 27, 2023; and 6 WHEREAS, Carolyn grew up in Norco and graduated from Destrehan High School; 7 and 8 WHEREAS, a lifelong resident of Norco, LA and in her last years of The Blake 9 apartments in Harahan, Carolyn was an integral and beloved member of her community, her 10 church, and her large and devoted family; and 11 WHEREAS, as a devoted Catholic, Carolyn was very active in her church, singing 12 in the choirs at Sacred Heart of Jesus in Norco and Saint Joan of Arc in LaPlace; and 13 WHEREAS, she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and 14 many charitable and community organizations; and 15 WHEREAS, in 1951, she married the love of her life Dr. Earl J. "Doc" Alleman after 16 only four months of knowing each other, but it was clearly the right decision, as they were 17 happily married for fifty-four years until Doc's passing in 2005, and together, they raised a 18 large and loving family; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 171 SLS 23RS-2603 ORIGINAL 1 WHEREAS, she was blessed with a remarkable memory, intellectual curiosity, and 2 deep interest in her loved ones, so much so that she ran the "Command Center", keeping 3 track of all the locations and vocations of her many descendants with striking accuracy; and 4 WHEREAS, Carolyn is survived by her sister Patricia Walters and eight children: 5 Nancy Sevo (John), Debby Wilson (George), Jo Ann Soomro (Taj), Earl J. Alleman Jr. aka 6 "Rip" (Debbie), Beth Ramsey (Robert), Allyson Lovetro-Marrero (Alan), Reed Alleman 7 (Elaine), and Kay Pietri (Bill) along with her twenty grandchildren and twenty-seven 8 great-grandchildren in addition to numerous nieces and nephews; and 9 WHEREAS, she is preceded in death by her parents Maurice and Hilda Cambre, her 10 beloved husband Dr. Earl J. Alleman, her brothers Maurice Cambre Jr., Rodney Cambre, 11 Dr. Robert G. Cambre, and Harold "Cooney" Cambre; and 12 WHEREAS, ever glamorous and charming, Carolyn lit up the room wherever she 13 went and kept everyone entertained with her sparkling wit and joyful contagious laugh; and 14 WHEREAS, because of her service to her church, community, and family, Carolyn 15 Cambre Alleman will be forever remembered by her friends, family, and the citizens of 16 Louisiana for her warmth, wit, great organizational skills, and the joy she left in the hearts 17 of all who knew her. 18 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 19 does hereby respectfully acknowledge with gratitude the many accomplishments of Carolyn 20 Cambre Alleman and extends the sincere regrets and condolences to her family on the 21 occasion of her death, and salutes her for a life well-lived. 22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to her 23 children: Nancy Sevo, Debby Wilson, Jo Ann Soomro, Earl J. Alleman, Beth Ramsey, 24 Allyson Lovetro-Marrero, Reed Alleman, and Kay Pietri.
