COMMENDATIONS. Commends the Recreation and Park Commission for the parish of
East Baton Rouge (BREC) Foundation for its exceptional service.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend the Recreation and Park Commission for the parish of East Baton Rouge
3 (BREC) Foundation for its exceptional service.
4 WHEREAS, in 2002, a nonprofit corporation was established with the noble purpose
5 of supporting, promoting, and invigorating public interest in the preservation, construction,
6 and maintenance of public parks, open spaces, and areas with natural conservation features
7 in East Baton Rouge Parish; and
8 WHEREAS, recognizing the significance of leisure time activities that enhance the
9 overall quality of life, the organization strives to develop recreational opportunities tailored
10 to meet the diverse needs and interests of area citizens, irrespective of gender, age, culture,
11 socioeconomic backgrounds, and physical and mental capabilities; and
12 WHEREAS, for over two decades, the BREC Foundation has actively collaborated
13 with the Recreation and Park Commission for the parish of East Baton Rouge (BREC) to
14 make a profound impact on our community; and
15 WHEREAS, the BREC Foundation's mission is dedicated to raising funds for parks
16 and recreation, benefitting the health, welfare, and cultural enrichment of all residents and
17 visitors of East Baton Rouge Parish; as responsible stewards of the funds entrusted by
18 generous donors, the organization adheres to their wishes and directives, fostering

1 innovation, sound corporate governance, and meaningful partnerships to further its mission
2 and provide opportunities to its members; and
3 WHEREAS, the BREC Foundation has successfully forged public-private
4 partnerships, exemplifying the potential for individuals and families to combine their
5 donations with BREC funding, thus transforming their aspirations into tangible realities; and
6 WHEREAS, the projects and initiatives supported by the BREC Foundation are
7 driven by donor interests, as it actively collaborates with citizens, civic groups, associations,
8 and businesses to revitalize neighborhood parks, construct trails, support youth programs,
9 and create new amenities; and
10 WHEREAS, the tireless dedication of numerous volunteers serving on the BREC
11 Foundation Board of Directors has been instrumental in carrying out the invaluable work of
12 the BREC Foundation; and
13 WHEREAS, to this day, the BREC Foundation continues to champion opportunities
14 for visionaries to realize enhanced park facilities and enriching recreational programs within
15 East Baton Rouge Parish, fostering exceptional donor engagement for meaningful purposes.
16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
17 does hereby wholeheartedly commend the BREC Foundation for its exceptional service and
18 recognize its significant contribution in unifying the efforts of all those who strive to make
19 the state of Louisiana a better place.
20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be communicated to BREC, the
21 BREC Foundation, the Mayor-President of East Baton Rouge Parish, and the members of
22 the East Baton Rouge Metro Council.
