SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 195

A RESOLUTION
To commend the Recreation and Park Commission for the parish of East Baton Rouge
(BREC) Foundation for its exceptional service.
WHEREAS, in 2002, a nonprofit corporation was established with the noble purpose
of supporting, promoting, and invigorating public interest in the preservation, construction,
and maintenance of public parks, open spaces, and areas with natural conservation features
in East Baton Rouge Parish; and
WHEREAS, recognizing the significance of leisure time activities that enhance the
overall quality of life, the organization strives to develop recreational opportunities tailored
to meet the diverse needs and interests of area citizens, irrespective of gender, age, culture,
socioeconomic backgrounds, and physical and mental capabilities; and
WHEREAS, for over two decades, the BREC Foundation has actively collaborated
with the Recreation and Park Commission for the parish of East Baton Rouge (BREC) to
make a profound impact on our community; and
WHEREAS, the BREC Foundation's mission is dedicated to raising funds for parks
and recreation, benefitting the health, welfare, and cultural enrichment of all residents and
visitors of East Baton Rouge Parish; as responsible stewards of the funds entrusted by
generous donors, the organization adheres to their wishes and directives, fostering
innovation, sound corporate governance, and meaningful partnerships to further its mission
and provide opportunities to its members; and
WHEREAS, the BREC Foundation has successfully forged public-private
partnerships, exemplifying the potential for individuals and families to combine their
donations with BREC funding, thus transforming their aspirations into tangible realities; and
WHEREAS, the projects and initiatives supported by the BREC Foundation are
driven by donor interests, as it actively collaborates with citizens, civic groups, associations,
and businesses to revitalize neighborhood parks, construct trails, support youth programs,
and create new amenities; and

WHEREAS, the tireless dedication of numerous volunteers serving on the BREC
Foundation Board of Directors has been instrumental in carrying out the invaluable work of
the BREC Foundation; and
WHEREAS, to this day, the BREC Foundation continues to champion opportunities
for visionaries to realize enhanced park facilities and enriching recreational programs within
East Baton Rouge Parish, fostering exceptional donor engagement for meaningful purposes.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby wholeheartedly commend the BREC Foundation for its exceptional service and
recognize its significant contribution in unifying the efforts of all those who strive to make
the state of Louisiana a better place.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be communicated to BREC, the
BREC Foundation, the Mayor-President of East Baton Rouge Parish, and the members of
the East Baton Rouge Metro Council.
