SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH. Recognizes Thursday, April 20, 2023, as Junior League
Day at the state capitol.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To recognize Thursday, April 20, 2023, as Junior League Day at the state capitol.
3 WHEREAS, the Junior League is an organization of women committed to promoting
4 volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the
5 action and leadership of its trained volunteers; and
6 WHEREAS, the Junior League has a vision to encourage women to be catalysts for
7 lasting community change in the areas of health, education, and cultural development; and
8 WHEREAS, the nine Louisiana leagues and more than seven thousand three hundred
9 Junior League members continue to impact the lives of residents across Louisiana through
10 the contributions made by the league's trained volunteers; and
11 WHEREAS, Junior League chapters across the state have made significant financial
12 investments through their community assistance funds, which grant money to nonprofit
13 agencies and community projects that enhance quality of life and contribute to civic vitality;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Junior League chapters are members of the Association
16 of Junior League International, Inc., a network of more than one hundred twenty-five
17 thousand members in over two hundred ninety-five communities in four countries: the
18 United States of America, Canada, Mexico, and the United Kingdom.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
2 does hereby recognize Thursday, April 20, 2023, as Junior League Day at the state capitol.
