SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 202

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Senator Barrow Peacock on receiving the 2023 Medical
Professional Liability Association Award of Excellence for Public Policy.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend Senator Barrow Peacock on being a recipient of the 2023 Medical Professional
3 Liability Association Award of Excellence for Public Policy.
4 WHEREAS, Senator Peacock is a notable public servant who has served with
5 excellence since taking office in 2011, during which time he has fully used every
6 opportunity to serve the citizens of Senate District No. 37 and the state in an honorable and
7 dedicated manner; and
8 WHEREAS, Senator Peacock has shown his dedication to serving his community
9 and the medical profession throughout his career and presently serves as the chairman for
10 the Senate Committee on Judiciary A; and
11 WHEREAS, the Medical Professional Liability Association is the insurance industry
12 trade association that represents a full range of entities doing business in the medical
13 professional liability arena, including domestic and international medical professional
14 liability insurance companies, risk retention groups, captive insurers, professional trusts, and
15 other entities; and
16 WHEREAS, the Medical Professional Liability Association members insure nearly
17 two million healthcare professionals around the world, including doctors, dentists, nurses,
18 nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers; and

1 WHEREAS, the Medical Professional Liability Association gives this award
2 annually to government officials or private citizens who have undertaken exemplary efforts
3 to recognize and advance the public policy needs of the medical professional liability
4 community.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
6 does hereby commend the Honorable Barrow Peacock; does hereby extend honor and
7 recognition to him for his outstanding contributions as a distinguished member of the
8 Louisiana Senate, and for supporting healthcare providers and insurers in Louisiana, which
9 is evidenced by the national recognition bestowed upon him by the Medical Professional
10 Liability Association.
11 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
12 Senator Barrow Peacock.
