SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 38

COMMENDATIONS. Commends the Port Allen High School girls' powerlifting team on
winning the LHSAA 2023 Division III State Championship.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend the Port Allen High School girls' powerlifting team on winning the Louisiana
3 High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) 2023 Division III State Championship.
4 WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana has
5 learned that on Friday, March 24, 2023, the Port Allen High School girls' power lifting team
6 won the LHSAA 2023 Division III State Championship; and
7 WHEREAS, the Pelicans hoisted their fifth straight state championship girls' power
8 lifting trophy and the tenth state championship for the team in the last thirteen years; and
9 WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence,
10 and each team member deserves recognition for her vital contributions throughout the
11 season; and
12 WHEREAS, this team of first-class athletes includes: Ciera Brown, Lyric
13 Christopher, Ta'Janae Christopher, Abigail Espinoza, Trinity Harrison, Alyric James,
14 Christiauna Joseph, Jaylynn Netter, Isabella Newchurch, Lily Patterson, Corinne Perdue,
15 Na'Kyiah Polk, Michaelin Robertson, Keren Santos, Kierra Talley, Allie Thompson, Sydney
16 Warren, and Jermiyia Wilson; and
17 WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved
18 without the guidance and skills of Head Coach Brian Bizette and assistant coaches Reed

1 Bueche, Chris Conaway, Randy Pourciau, Lakeisha Wheeler, and Brittny Wilson; and
2 WHEREAS, the team's outstanding season upholds the glorious tradition of the
3 Pelicans and all Port Allen High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and
4 distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community, and state; and
5 WHEREAS, these extraordinary young women and their coaches are worthy of
6 special recognition for their much-deserved championship title.
7 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
8 does hereby commend the Port Allen High School girls' power lifting team on winning the
9 LHSAA 2023 Division III State Championship.
10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
11 Port Allen High School girls' power lifting Head Coach Brian Bizette.
