SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 40

A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of
Louisiana to the family of Randell Aaron Fletcher upon the occasion of his death.
WHEREAS, Randell Aaron Fletcher, born July 9, 1935, and raised in Verda,
Louisiana, was a 1953 graduate of Verda High School and earned a Bachelor of Science and
a Master of Education from Northwestern State University; and
WHEREAS, a member of Verda Baptist Church, Randell taught Sunday school for
forty-eight years; served as church treasurer for over fifty years; participated in seventeen
mission trips to Honduras and Alaska for medical and building purposes; and served as a
deacon from 1957 until his passing on April 12, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Randell was a devoted family man and community leader having served
as a board member and chairman of the Bank of Montgomery (BOM), board member and
chairman of the Red River Waterway Commission, board member of the Grant Parish Soil
Conservation & Water and the Louisiana State Soil & Water Commission, and board
member and president of the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home; and
WHEREAS, Randell was a cattle farmer who taught elementary school in Colfax for
nineteen years in addition to serving four years on the Grant Parish Police Jury and as Grant
Parish Assessor for twenty-two years; and
WHEREAS, Randell was elected to the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame as a result of his
dedication and work with livestock; and

WHEREAS, while preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Edna Fletcher, a
daughter-in-law, Candy Fletcher, and a great-grandson, Logan Ammons; Randell is survived
by his wife of sixty-eight years, Geraldine Hale Fletcher; their son, Steve Fletcher and
daughters, Becky Reeder and Celeste Fletcher (John Wardlow); grandchildren, Kristen
Tarver (Adam), Joshua Fletcher, Carrie Butler (Blake), Heather Herron (Joe), Zach Reeder
(Samantha), and Leanne Foreman (Clay); and great-grandchildren Indy Ammons, Luke
Butler, Allie Butler, Seth Herron, Kate Herron, Rhett Reeder, Brady Foreman, and Camille
Foreman; and
WHEREAS, Randell's passing leaves a void in the community to be felt by his
friends and family and the community as a whole.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
hereby extends sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Randell Aaron
Fletcher on the occasion of his death and does further acknowledge his activities and
contributions in the community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to his
widow, Geraldine Hale Fletcher.
