SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 44

COMMENDATIONS. Recognizes and commends the members and board of directors of
the Louisiana School Boards Association.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To recognize and commend the members and board of directors of the Louisiana School
3 Boards Association.
4 WHEREAS, the Louisiana School Boards Association represents the 643 elected
5 school board members of the 69 locally elected school boards in the state of Louisiana; and
6 WHEREAS, the Louisiana School Boards Association is governed by a board of
7 directors, comprised of school board members from across the state, elected by their peers;
8 and
9 WHEREAS, the members of the board of directors of the Louisiana School Boards
10 Association volunteer their time, beyond their service on their respective local school boards,
11 to promote, support, and advocate on behalf of the 69 locally elected school boards in the
12 state; and
13 WHEREAS, the Louisiana School Boards Association is holding its annual Capitol
14 Conference to promote the advocacy for public education with the Louisiana Legislature;
15 and
16 WHEREAS, the 2023 officers and members of the Louisiana School Boards
17 Association are as follows: President Rose Dominguez, a member of Tangipahoa Parish
18 School Board; President-Elect Vernon Travis, a member of the Vernon Parish School Board;

1 Vice President Katherine Lemoine, a member of the St. Bernard Parish School Board;
2 Regional Representatives Sue Beier of St. James Parish, Debra Schum of St. John the Baptist
3 Parish, Taft Kleinpeter of Ascension Parish, Linda Chaney of St. Helena Parish, Jim Seaman
4 of Vernon Parish, Delo Hebert of Acadia Parish, Aimee Dupuy of Avoyelles Parish,
5 Veronica Tappin of Morehouse Parish, Glen Bullard of Bossier Parish, Reba Phelps of
6 Natchitoches Parish, Kasandria White of Red River Parish, Brandon Harrell of St. Tammany
7 Parish, and Yolanda Laws of Iberville Parish; and the Executive Director, Dr. Janet Pope.
8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
9 does hereby commend the members and board of directors of the Louisiana School Boards
10 Association, does further recognize the members of the board of directors for their genuine
11 dedication to improving public education in our state, and extends sincerest hopes for all
12 members in their continued support of public education and service to the youth of
13 Louisiana.
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
15 president of the Louisiana School Boards Association.
