SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 48

A RESOLUTION
To recognize May 6, 2023, as Louisiana Firefighter's Appreciation Day and commend and
acknowledge the firefighters across the state for their dedication to public safety and
their service to the citizens of Louisiana and the United States of America.
WHEREAS, firefighting is vital to the communities served by firefighters and critical
to the preservation of life and property; and
WHEREAS, communities in Louisiana recognize that firefighting is a dangerous
profession and firefighters can be subjected to acute exposure and chronic effects of
dangerous elements as well as hazardous materials; and
WHEREAS, whenever an emergency occurs, firefighters are called to place their
lives at risk to these dangerous elements and hazardous materials; and
WHEREAS, firefighters of Louisiana have responded to all types of disasters, natural
or man-made, either in their respective community or other communities throughout the state
and the United States; and
WHEREAS, the people of Louisiana are engaged in a partnership with firefighters
as they struggle to preserve life and property from the ravages of fire and other disasters and
celebrate the proud history of the American fire service and the sacrifices made by
firefighters and their families across this great nation.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby recognize May 6, 2023, as Louisiana Firefighter's Appreciation Day and
commend all firefighters across the state for their dedication to public safety and service to
the citizens of Louisiana and the United States of America.
