SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 65
BY SENATOR BOUDREAUX 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Reverend Dr. Larry J. Lloyd for 50 years of dedicated
service and devotion to the Ministry.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To commend Reverend Dr. Larry J. Lloyd for fifty years of dedicated service and devotion
3 to the Ministry.
4 WHEREAS, Larry J. Lloyd was ordained in 1973 by the Western Jurisdiction of the
5 Church of God in Christ in Shreveport, Louisiana; and
6 WHEREAS, Reverend Lloyd completed his bachelor degree in Bible and pastoral
7 studies from North Central University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1977; and 
8 WHEREAS, Reverend Lloyd completed two masters degrees in theology and
9 intercultural studies from Fuller School of Theology and School of Intercultural Studies in
10 1992 and 1993, respectively; and
11 WHEREAS, in the summer of 2004, Reverend Lloyd completed a PhD in
12 intercultural studies from Fuller Theological Seminary, School of Intercultural Studies; and
13 WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Lloyd was consecrated as Bishop and Prelate of Spirit of
14 Liberty in 2008; and
15 WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Lloyd responded to God's call by serving in many
16 capacities during his fifty years; since 1979, he has served as founder and general overseer
17 of the Spirit of Liberty Christian Fellowship and Global Ministries of Lafayette, Louisiana;
18 he taught at Oral Roberts University Undergraduate School of Theology; he served as Pastor

1 of Congregational Care at Greater Bethany Congregational Church of Los Angeles; he has
2 taught as an adjunct professor at Fuller Seminary School of Theology since 2000; he taught
3 as a visiting professor at Loyola Marymount University; and he served as director of the
4 African-American Studies Program at Azusa Pacific University from 1996-2001; and 
5 WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Lloyd has traveled extensively, leading biblical tours to
6 Israel, Egypt, Rome, Turkey, Greece, and West Africa, including Ghana and Nigeria, sharing
7 and teaching the Word of God in actual locations around the world that events took place
8 and even leading people to walk in the footsteps of Jesus; and
9 WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Lloyd continues to minister full-time; he is currently a
10 professor at Southern University, teaching Race Relations; he hosts The Wonderful Word of
11 God radio broadcast and Spiritual Soul Food daily devotionals, which includes preaching
12 and teaching programs reaching a major segment of southwest Louisiana, and internationally
13 on the worldwide web.
14 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
15 does hereby recognize and commend Reverend Dr. Larry J. Lloyd for his fifty years of
16 service to God's people of Acadiana and the entire world and for his distinguished career as
17 a facilitator, conference speaker, teacher, lecturer, and mentor to so many; and does hereby
18 wish him continued blessings as he works to spread the good news of the Gospel of Jesus
19 Christ.
20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
21 Reverend Dr. Larry J. Lloyd.
