SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 66

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Melinda Huff Bernard upon her retirement from the St.
Charles Parish School Board.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend Melinda Huff Bernard upon her retirement from the St. Charles Parish School
3 Board.
4 WHEREAS, Melinda Huff Bernard, a native and resident of Luling, Louisiana, is
5 married to Michael Bernard and has one daughter and two grandchildren; and
6 WHEREAS, she is a proud 1972 graduate of Hahnville High School, received her
7 bachelor's degree from Nicholls State University in elementary education, and went on to
8 earn her master's degree in school administration from the University of New Orleans; and
9 WHEREAS, Melinda retired from St. Charles Parish Public Schools after serving as
10 a teacher and principal for twenty-five years; and
11 WHEREAS, Melinda was elected to the school board in 2010, began serving in 2011,
12 and served as a school board member for three terms; and
13 WHEREAS, in addition to her service on the school board, she has been involved in
14 community and professional organizations as a member of the National School Boards
15 Association, the Louisiana School Boards Association, and Our Lady of the Angels Catholic
16 Church; and
17 WHEREAS, Melinda Huff Bernard's devotion to the education of students and their
18 families will forever be remembered throughout the St. Charles Parish School Board office

1 and by administrators, staff, students, and parents.
2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
3 does hereby commend Melinda Huff Bernard on her many accomplishments and does
4 hereby extend heartfelt wishes for a long and happy retirement.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
6 Melinda Huff Bernard.
