2023 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 66 BY SENATOR SMITH A RESOLUTION To commend Melinda Huff Bernard upon her retirement from the St. Charles Parish School Board. WHEREAS, Melinda Huff Bernard, a native and resident of Luling, Louisiana, is married to Michael Bernard and has one daughter and two grandchildren; and WHEREAS, she is a proud 1972 graduate of Hahnville High School, received her bachelor's degree from Nicholls State University in elementary education, and went on to earn her master's degree in school administration from the University of New Orleans; and WHEREAS, Melinda retired from St. Charles Parish Public Schools after serving as a teacher and principal for twenty-five years; and WHEREAS, Melinda was elected to the school board in 2010, began serving in 2011, and served as a school board member for three terms; and WHEREAS, in addition to her service on the school board, she has been involved in community and professional organizations as a member of the National School Boards Association, the Louisiana School Boards Association, and Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church; and WHEREAS, Melinda Huff Bernard's devotion to the education of students and their families will forever be remembered throughout the St. Charles Parish School Board office and by administrators, staff, students, and parents. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Melinda Huff Bernard on her many accomplishments and does hereby extend heartfelt wishes for a long and happy retirement.
