SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 72

SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH. Designates Thursday, May 18, 2023, as Community
Provider Association Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To designate Thursday, May 18, 2023, as Community Provider Association Day at the
3 Louisiana State Capitol.
4 WHEREAS, the Community Provider Association (CPA) is Louisiana's leading trade
5 organization and unified advocacy voice for disability service organizations, including
6 home- and community-based service providers, intermediate care facilities (ICFs), and
7 support coordination providers; and
8 WHEREAS, CPA's forty-two member organizations serve thousands of individuals
9 with disabilities and employ thousands of dedicated staff in every region of our state; and
10 WHEREAS, the member organizations provide a wide range of services that are
11 referred to as "long-term supports and services"; and
12 WHEREAS, long-term supports and services include assistance with the activities
13 of daily living, such as getting dressed, taking medications, preparing meals, and managing
14 money; and
15 WHEREAS, long-term supports and services are critical for individuals with
16 disabilities to reach their maximum potential in terms of health, education, employment, and
17 overall quality of life; and
18 WHEREAS, the CPA is committed to moving Louisiana's disability services system

1 forward by building a strong professional workforce and encouraging the highest standards
2 of quality and ethics for disability service organizations; and
3 WHEREAS, with the number and needs of individuals with developmental and
4 adult-onset disabilities continuing to grow, disability service providers will play an ever
5 increasingly significant role in improving the quality of life for many Louisiana citizens in
6 the future.
7 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
8 hereby designates Thursday, May 18, 2023, as Community Provider Association Day at the
9 Louisiana State Capitol.
10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
11 Caroline Meehan, CPA executive director.
