COMMENDATIONS. Commends and congratulates Parkview Baptist School girls' soccer
team on winning the school's first state girls' soccer title.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend and congratulate Parkview Baptist School girls' soccer team on winning the
3 school's first state girls' soccer title.
4 WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana has
5 learned that on Thursday, February 23, 2023, the Parkview Baptist School girls' soccer team
6 won the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) 2023 Division III State
7 Championship; and
8 WHEREAS, the Eagles hoisted their first state championship girls' soccer trophy
9 after defeating Archbishop Hannan, culminating an outstanding post-season performance;
10 and
11 WHEREAS, on January 17, 2023, the Eagles beat University High for the first time
12 in seventeen years, securing the second seed in the playoffs, and earning the right to play all
13 playoff games at home; and
14 WHEREAS, during the playoffs, the Eagles scored thirty goals and allowed only one
15 goal to be scored against them; and
16 WHEREAS, the Eagles completed the season with an overall record of 17 wins and
17 five losses; and
18 WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence,

1 and each team member deserves recognition for her contributions throughout the season; and
2 WHEREAS, the members of this championship team includes: Leah Aime, Ansley
3 Bernhard, Lauren Cooper, Caroline Delatte, Corinne Ganley, Amelia Guess, Chelsea
4 Holden, Ella Kate Johnston, Faith Johnston, Addison Meyer, Amelia Moody, Claire David,
5 Annsley Neel, Rebecca Ortlieb, Sarah Ortlieb, Kaitlyn Parker, Karis Phillippe, Ava Richard,
6 Bailey Sabrio, Emma Shoaf, Cassidy Wartelle, Lilah Wartelle, and Brooke Parsons; and
7 WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved
8 without the guidance and skills of Head Coach Rapheal Nunes and assistant coaches Shervin
9 Asayesh, Gillian Conner, and Roger Charcap; and
10 WHEREAS, these young women and their coaches are worthy of special recognition
11 for their much-deserved first state girls' soccer championship title for their school.
12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
13 does hereby commend and congratulate Parkview Baptist School girls' soccer team on
14 winning the school's first state girls' soccer title.
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
16 Parkview Baptist School girls' soccer Head Coach Rapheal Nunes.
