Declares Monday, May 15, 2023, as Ellevate Louisiana Day at the Louisiana State Capitol and recognize the mission of Ellevate Louisiana, which aims to empower women leaders across Louisiana. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To declare Monday, May 15, 2023, as "Ellevate Louisiana Day" at the Louisiana State 3 Capitol and recognize the mission of Ellevate Louisiana, which aims to empower 4 women leaders across Louisiana. 5 WHEREAS, Ellevate Louisiana, established in 2020 by Julie Stokes has emerged as 6 a statewide policy organization dedicated to empowering women leaders throughout 7 Louisiana; and 8 WHEREAS, in support of their mission, Ellevate Louisiana is dedicated to educating 9 its members and the communities they represent, offering data-driven, nonpartisan solutions 10 to address the challenges faced by Louisiana, while also providing a wealth of resources; and 11 WHEREAS, Ellevate Louisiana produces video casts that reach every corner of the 12 community, engaging with policymakers at the local, state, and federal government levels; 13 and 14 WHEREAS, the video casts by Ellevate Louisiana offer its membership and 15 interested citizens a platform to establish new goals and formulate effectual plans, covering 16 diverse topics such as healthcare, environment, infrastructure, workforce, education, 17 taxation, and economic development; and 18 WHEREAS, Ellevate Louisiana annually directs its attention to Louisiana state Page 1 of 3 SR NO. 88 SLS 23RS-1638 ORIGINAL 1 legislative sessions from February through June, organizing leadership conferences prior to 2 the session, participating in legislative days during the session, and conducting session 3 wrap-ups upon the legislature's sine die; and 4 WHEREAS, policy symposiums are organized from July through December, 5 facilitating direct engagement with state and federal decision-makers; and 6 WHEREAS, answers to questions regarding topics such as local impact of the 7 United States census data, remaining in Louisiana for work, healthcare debates, child care, 8 jobs, sports, and more are shared through letters posted on www.ellevateLA.org; and 9 WHEREAS, Ellevate Louisiana shares informative and beneficial editorials aimed 10 at addressing problematic living issues facing Louisiana families including childhood 11 development, while striving to eliminate daily divisiveness that can erode unity for all of 12 Louisiana and our nation, particularly in the face of one-sided solutions to multi-sided 13 problems; and 14 WHEREAS, Ellevate Louisiana actively participates in national initiatives such as 15 Common Sense American, Braver Angels, Makeshift Coffee House, and The Flip Side to 16 contribute to Louisiana's pursuit of a brighter future, fostering awareness of critical issues, 17 promoting collaboration, depolarizing discussions, bridging political divides through coffee, 18 music, and conversation, and presenting popular news events objectively by exploring 19 multiple perspectives; and 20 WHEREAS, Ellevate Louisiana has collaborated with Connect, NOW in New 21 Orleans, Louisiana, to gain a deeper understanding of their shared values and priorities, 22 fostering strong working relationships aimed at making the greatest possible impact; and 23 WHEREAS, Ellevate Louisiana offers membership categories that are tailored to 24 diverse interest levels, accommodating young professionals and corporate partners engaged 25 in various fields such as law, real estate, public accounting, construction, issues-management 26 firms, healthcare and insurance, government relations, politics, taxes, and wealth advising; 27 and 28 WHEREAS, Ellevate Louisiana actively addresses the current needs of Louisiana's 29 citizenry through focused policy positions on various crucial areas such as early childhood 30 care, education, statewide broadband, long-term care, behavioral health, telehealth, women's Page 2 of 3 SR NO. 88 SLS 23RS-1638 ORIGINAL 1 health, domestic violence, healthcare workforce shortages, data-sharing for career readiness, 2 occupational licensing reform, centralized sales tax collection, and economic development, 3 all aimed at fostering a better future for the state and promoting collective learning and 4 brighter prospects for the future. 5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 6 does hereby declare Monday, May 15, 2023, as Ellevate Louisiana Day at the Louisiana 7 State Capitol and recognize the mission of Ellevate Louisiana, which aims to empower 8 women leaders across Louisiana. 9 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Julie 10 Stokes, founder of Ellevate Louisiana.
